I’m attempting to build my own 1U dream server. I still am waiting for the barebone and ram.

Dude. I’m kinda jealous. I want to build a server. About how much have you spent on it?

$2,800, but its my dream server. I may put another 200-600 for harddrives, depends on how i feel about it. Having a SSD for the database & OS would be pretty sexy.

just out of curiosity, what OS?

Ill just be using my usual custom build: CentOS, MySQL, Python, PHP/xcache, PERL, Lighttpd, FMS (using dev version holding out for the new one). And since the server will be VM friendly, I can play with that.
