you can click the help menu in fat pipe

I have been waiting for a good reason to update my tumblr, and i guess this is a good enough reason.
I quit my job and moved to Thailand about 6 weeks ago, and my plan was to make things. Initially i struggled with finding my groove (there are quite a few distractions here), but i knew eventually i would pick up a few ideas and start making things.
I wanted the first project i worked on to be something that wouldn’t take too long to release, and i wanted it to be something i would be uncomfortable building because i would lack knowledge in the area.
So i bring to you Fat Pipe! (the fastest download manager that exists!)
Its a little download manager for mac that speeds up large downloads. I used to use one called Speed Download but they recently discontinued their product so i though this would be a good time to make one.
If you want to know a little more about my experience with making it head over here.
I would really love it if you guys could download it and give me an update with what works, and doesn’t work. I’ll be leaving the app for free in the app store for a week or two.
Hopefully ill have something fun and interesting to share every month :).

Thank you sir for the free app!
It works great, i just downloaded a 2GB file TEN times faster than normal.

Thank you so much for trying it out, and I’m very happy you haven’t broke it yet :P.

Please spread the word if it continues to be useful for you.

Ok so i tested it with a few large files and i am very impressed! This isn’t my first download manager i use Download Shuttle, but your app is actually 4x faster than it!
Results:

Fat Pipe - 2 minutes

Download Shuttle - 8 minutes

Chrome - 24 minutes

Thank you for the app!! I’ll be sure to leave a good review and share it with my friends that use mac.

Thank you so much for testing it!
I think the reason why it outperforms Download Shuttle is because they only allow you to use 6 connections. Fat Pipe can do 50!
Hopefully it continues to speed up your downloads, and save you time :)

So….
This isn’t ANYTHING to be confused with ‘Pied Piper’ from HBO’s Silicon Valley….

Haha, unfortunately it has nothing to do with HBO’s Silicon Valley

spvcetiger said: Hey, I downloaded your new download app. I have it installed and I just tested it by downloading a free album. It was super quick. I also installed the chrome extension. I'm a bit confused though, is the extension supposed to make the app run when I attempt to download something? Or do I have to manually open the app and put in the download's URL each time? With the album, chrome would download at normal speed but when I manually entered the URL your app downloaded it super quick. Thanks!

Thanks for testing this out for me!

Ok so chrome actually doesn’t let me take over their standard way to downloading things. But if the thing your trying to download is a link you can now right click it in chrome and it should say “Download With Fat Pipe”, this will automatically send Fat Pipe the link, and your current session.

I wrote about uber about a year ago, and i just recently received a tumblr promo code for $20 credit. They almost trippled the amount of places that uber operates in and they also released a new service called uberX which is actually CHEAPER than regular cabs… So far from a customer perspective uber is really the best. (the cabbies may beg to differ)

My friends and I use uber when we go out! They arrive quickly, have always been friendly and the prices are great. The driver the other weekend fully embraced out drunken stupor, let us turn up the music, didn’t mind us jamming out, and was more than friendly when asking “should I pull over?” when we thought one of my friends was going to get sick.  Seriously, one of the best things my friends have discovered.

Sounds like the complete opposite of normal cabs :). A couple of times yellow cab drivers told me that they sometimes refuse to pick up drunk groups of people because they don’t want to deal with it.

I have been in a few uber cab cause of Kimo and they pick a huge group of us trashed as hell and are awesome. Like there is an app and everything to show how far away. It even shows their picture and the cars are super nice!

Their app was actually the main reason i was remotely interested, because initially they were charging a 30% premium. The uber app is 10x better than the Taxi Magic app. Its beautiful…
